BRADLEY, Monterey County — October 28, 2026. Monterey County’s plans for a new community facility in Bradley include more than a traditional book-lending room. The official 2026 public-works bid listing describes construction of a 2,500-square-foot metal building for the Bradley Library and Resiliency Center at 65650 Bradley Road.
What is included in the planned facility?
The county project scope includes a new building, site work and demolition where required, extension of utilities, a new septic system, parking and a utility yard, plus a new wharf hydrant, fire-water tanks and a generator. These infrastructure elements can matter to a remote community where utility reliability and emergency preparedness are priorities. The county labels the project Project No. 8821 / Bid Package 10966.
What’s the procurement status?
The county’s solicitation portal lists an April 16, 2026 start for the bidding package and a May 22 deadline; its separate project listing identifies a May 21 bid-opening date. The existence of bids and published plans means the county sought contractors, but it does not establish an executed construction contract, completed building, operating hours or an opening date. Residents should request the award notice and latest project schedule for that information.
Why a resilience center?
Bradley is an unincorporated South County community. A facility intended to serve both library and resilience functions can provide a location for public information and services, depending on the eventual operating plan. The inclusion of a generator and water-related infrastructure suggests attention to continuity, but no particular emergency service should be promised until county officials publish its detailed operations.
